Hamptons Adventure, December 2005

David and I had a lovely time this past weekend. David joined me in NY for New Year's weekend. We went up to the Hamptons and stayed in a little place called the Southampton Inn. Not the nicest of places, but very affordable and relaxing. We were able to visit some friends while up there and attempted some wineries, but they were all closed for New Years. I was really looking forward to tasting some NY wine and possibly brining some home with me!

The biggest news on this trip is that David surprised me with the "offical" proposal! We ended up hanging out at the beach for the big New Year's celebration (although a little on the cold side, actually quite lovely). We bought some Vanilla Chai tea protein drink ( for some reason no-one had champange to buy) and waited for the clock to turn to midnight! As we talked about 2006 and what the year would bring, David looks at me and asks "How do you want your first moments in 2006 to be spent?" My reply was simply " To have an awesome time with you". Not to my knowledge that the following event was about to take place.

David looks at me and says "Give me your ring" (my promise ring I've worn for the past 2 years). "Since you've never had a real proposal, here we go". Thinking David was just doing this for the formality, I thought what he was placing back on my left hand was my original ring. As he asked and I said yes, I looked down on my hand... wait a minute. That isn't my ring. Instead, he had switched it with a real engagement ring. The most amazing ring I've ever seen. To David... I will always be amazed by you.
